Pockit

Build confidence in the fintech startup for low-income and underserved communities

Challenge

Founded in 2015, Pockit is the financial super app for low-income and underserved communities, enabling anyone to set up a current account and access features such as international transfers, income advance, credit builder, budgeting and cashback. The startup had a difficult few years but had worked hard to build a sustainable business model. Armed with new funding, Pockit wanted to announce its positive news to the world.

Action

We worked with TechCrunch to land an exclusive piece covering the funding round, with an accompanying interview that dove deep into how Pockit started, the mission behind the company and how it has grown over the past few years. Armed with this cornerstone coverage, we conducted wider outreach to tech and fintech publications to spread the message further.

Result

Pockit’s funding news was covered by over 20 different publications including TechCrunch, The Times, The Evening Standard, Fortune Term Sheet, Crowdfund Insider and Tech.EU. A strategic newsjacking moment also saw a follow-on piece in the Evening Standard discussing underbanked and debanked communities in the wake of the Nigel Farage/Coutts crisis. It was great to see such positive coverage for a worthy mission.
