Ÿnsect

To establish Ÿnsect as the leading agtech innovator in the burgeoning edible insects and future of food market

Challenge

To make a big media splash around Ÿnsect’s Series C funding round and to sustain the momentum post funding announcement despite the lack of company’s news.

Action

We used funding news followed by an extended journalist engagement programme to establish the agtech company as a leading innovator solving the problem of how to tackle the long-term problem of increasing populations and global food shortages. Having secured a big funding round and backing from top-tier investors, Paris-based ag tech company Ÿnsect was well positioned to tell its story with credibility in the business press. However, we knew that we needed to create a long-term, impactful narrative that would resonate beyond the funding announcement. Consequently, we developed a narrative that prioritised Ÿnsect’s mission to help feed a growing global population by putting insects back into the food chain. This capitalised on recent enthusiasm for edible insects and the future of food. The narrative was deployed for the funding announcement and played a key role in the activation of a robust journalist engagement programme targeting business, tech and science writers following the funding news.

Result

A strong message coupled with the company’s business credentials helped deliver a successful funding announcement. Ÿnsect’s story attracted the attention of all the major international outlets including Bloomberg, FT, CNBC and Reuters and trade press AgFunder, Feed Navigator, Food Ingredients.

The journalist engagement programme converted into strong coverage in The Economist, The Guardian and The Times and resulted in Ÿnsect being ranked as one of the hottest French companies in Wired and Sifted.
